April 20, Amarillo, Texas

Last night we had a storm which reminded us of home with thunder, lightning and rain.  Then we felt even more at home when the power went off twice, for a couple of hours.  Oh, that's right, it was only a couple of hours, it must have been load shedding.

As you can see we crossed the next State Border today.  We are now in the Texas Panhandle.  Everything in Texas is big, the big open spaces, the Rest Areas/Tornado Shelters, wind turbine farms as far as the eye can see.  We liked the only Rest Area we saw today because Oklahoma has closed all Rest Areas that we passed, so it makes for some really tiring driving.  The Texan one was really lovely, beautiful views, lovely play area for the children and a little museum on Wind Power, inside the building which also acted as a Tornado Shelter.

After yesterdays rain and cool weather we have had so far, it is really nice to see the sunshine today.

The KOA we are booked into for the night has a group of Amigos to greet their visitors at the office, they even have the right music playing in the background, plus other quaint metal ornaments depicting the Texan life.

After our early evening walk, we posted some more pictures of the  metal sculptures around the park.
